Classes with Earth and Fire Pottery
Come join the fun with a class with Earth and Fire Pottery. I will guide you through the steps necessary to have you making the pots you have always wanted to do. Classes are closed now, and when we get going again, they will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 6pm-8pm. No experience necessary. Let me know if you want to get on a waiting list for classes.
My pottery heritage is through three main Sensei's, or teachers. My first teachers were Jeff and Lloyd from the Glen Echo Pottery in Glen Echo Maryland. I moved to Kelseyville, California to work with Dean Strawn, a master potter who worked for a time with Margueritte Windenhain, of the world famous art school called the Bauhaus in Germany before World War II. I studied with Dean for seven years before starting Earth and Fire Pottery. My second Sensei is Gary Medina, who hired me to teach at Mendocino College in Ukiah, Ca. And my third Sensei is Mel Jacobson, who dispenses wisdom like Mark Twain, on all subjects of pottery and life in general. Also, I am indebted to John and Marsha Williams, especially John, who, without knowing it, gave me a graduate level education when we worked together in the early 2000's.
